Google reviews every post published to a Business Profile against its content policies. When a post breaks a rule it comes back as Rejected (blocked by Google's content rules) rather than Failed (a delivery or technical error). Here are the most common reasons posts get rejected - and how to avoid them.
1. Prohibited text content
Google automatically rejects posts containing prohibited text: contact details used as spam, promotional spam, political content, or anything inappropriate. Keep posts professional and free of sensitive contact information.
Phone numbers are the most common trigger. Never put a phone number in the post body - not even through a location variable like {{location.primary_phone}}. Google treats it as "phone stuffing" and may reject the post or suspend the listing.
2. Image or video problems
Visual content must be authentic and good quality. Overly edited, low-quality, or improperly formatted images and videos get rejected. Stock photos are allowed but discouraged - they read as generic. Anything offensive or promoting illegal activity is never allowed.
3. Misleading or inaccurate information
False claims, misrepresented product or service quality, or anything deceptive that could mislead a customer will be rejected. Keep every post accurate and honest.
4. A flagged account
Repeated policy violations can flag the whole account, which halts new and scheduled posts. If posts stop publishing across a listing and you've ruled out the reasons above, the account may be flagged - contact Google Support to resolve it.
Fixing a rejected post
Open the post, compare it against the reasons above, and remove the offending text or media.
Edit or re-create the post and publish again.
If clean posts keep getting rejected, the listing or account may be flagged - check with Google Support.
