Call Tracking (Tracking > Call Tracking) answers the question analytics never can: which marketing actually makes the phone ring. You place tracking numbers on your Google Business Profile, website and campaigns; calls forward invisibly to the real business line while LocalOptics logs, records and attributes every one.
Getting set up
Connect a Telephony Account - under Telephony Accounts, click Add Telephony account and link your own Twilio or SignalWire account. When syncing finishes the account shows Active.
Purchase phone numbers - local or toll-free, in 249+ supported countries.
Configure each number - set the call flow (ring-through to one number, or round-robin across a team), business hours with after-hours voicemail, optional whisper messages for caller and agent, call recording with a warning message, and spam protection (Roboblock challenges robocallers before your phone ever rings).
Link the number to a location so calls appear in that location's dashboard and reports.
Put the number to work - best practice for GBP: make the tracking number the primary phone on your listing and move the real number to the secondary field. Every listing call gets tracked, and your real number stays visible.
Number pools and website attribution
For websites, Call Tracking Widgets swap the phone number a visitor sees based on how they arrived. Numbers come from a Number Pool: each visitor session is assigned its own number, so when the call comes in LocalOptics knows the source - Google Ads, Google Organic, Bing Ads, Facebook Ads, direct traffic, referrals and more. The widget can swap numbers by CSS selector, by regular-expression match on the number itself, or by data attribute, and installs with a copy-paste snippet. Pools show their utilization and health on the Number Pools page, with a fallback number for when the pool is exhausted.
The calls log
Incoming Calls is the record of everything: caller (with their city and state), the number dialed, status - Answered, Voicemail, Missed, Spam, Canceled or Failed - ring and conversation duration, and the recording, playable right in the log. Open a call for the full detail: the event timeline, who it was forwarded to, the voicemail transcription, and the marketing source and campaign when the call came through a pool. Missed and direct-to-voicemail calls can trigger email notifications so leads don't sit unnoticed.
Call data also flows into the location Dashboard and your Reports automatically.
